  1. What is Medicalholodeck used for?

    Medicalholodeck’s applications are used for surgical training, anatomy teaching, and medical education in Virtual Reality.

  2. I am new to medical Virtual Reality. What do I need to experience Medicalholodeck?

    You can use the PC VR version of Medicalholodeck on tethered virtual reality hardware from Meta, Vive, or with Windows mixed reality systems. Tethered VR setups require a VR-ready computer. Check if your PC meets the minimum requirements.

    On untethered systems such as Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest PRO, you can use Cloud Rendering or the Dissection Master XR standalone app.

  3. What are the system requirements?

    For PC VR:

    The PC VR version of Medicalholodeck requires a VR-ready computer.
    Recommended Minimal Specs:
    • CPU: Intel i7
    • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080Ti
    • RAM: 16GB

    For Cloud Rendering:

    Cloud Rendering is available for Meta Quest 2 users.
    Requirements:
    • Internet Connection: 50 Mbit/s or better
    • WiFi 5 or better

  4. Is there a trial version available?

    Yes, Medicalholodeck offers a 7-day trial for new users. When you start Medicalholodeck for the first time, you will be shown an activate 7-day trial popup. Click on this option to start your free trial period. If you don’t see the popup, you can start the trial under the settings icon inside the VR app.

  5. Are there any differences in functionality between the free trial and paid versions of Medicalholodeck?

    No. The free trial is a fully functional version of Medicalholodeck. The only difference is that the free trial can be used for a limited time only.

  6. Can I use all Medickalholodeck applications at the same time side by side?

    Yes, you can use Medical Imaging XR, Dissection Master XR, and Anatomy Master XR side by side and compare the different datasets in VR. This also works in collaborative mode with TeamXR and in RecordXR.

  7. What VR/AR hardware is compatible with Medicalholodeck?

B. Installation, Setup, and Usage

  1. How do I download and install Medicalholodeck?

    To download and install Medicalholodeck, follow the steps below:

    For PC VR version:

    • Visit the Medicalholodeck website and download the PC VR version.
    • Launch the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

    For Steam users:

    For Meta Quest 2 (standalone Dissection Master XR):

  2. How do I activate the license?

    1. Activate a license on tethered headsets:

      • On your computer: copy the license key to your clipboard (Ctrl+C)
      • Launch Medicalholodeck and go to the settings page settings
      • Select ‘Licenses’ from the top of the settings page
      • Select ‘Enter License Key’
      • Paste the license key content_paste and click ‘Activate’
    2. Activate a license on untethered headsets (Meta Quest 1 and 2):

      • Connect your headset to the internet and launch Medicalholodeck
      • Go to the settings page settings and select ‘Licenses’ from the top
      • Note your 6-digit device ID from the bottom of the screen.
      • On your computer: open the web browser windows, navigate to www.medicalholodeck.com/link, and paste your headset’s device ID from the previous step
      • Select ‘License Management’, add your keys, and click ‘Activate’

C. Subscription and Licensing

  1. What subscription plans do you offer?

    We offer a variety of subscription plans:

    • Student: for students, enhancing the learning experience
    • Personal: for private users and patient empowerment
    • MD: for private practices and patient information
    • EDU: for medical education and surgical teaching at educational institutions
    • PRO: for hospitals, for postoperative assessments and case reporting

  2. Do you offer a lifetime license?

    No, Medicalholodeck is a subscription-based software. You can check available subscription plans on our website.

  3. Can I buy only one app from the bundle?

    Medicalholodeck offers three applications: Medical Imaging XR, Dissection Master XR, and Anatomy Master XR. Each app has its unique functions and datasets. You can purchase a license for a single application or a bundle license that includes all three applications.
    If you purchase a single license (for example, Medical Imaging XR), the functions and datasets of Dissection Master XR and Anatomy Master XR are not included.
    If you purchase a bundle license, all applications with all data are included.

  4. Do you offer licenses for students?

  5. What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept bank transfers and credit card payments. Credit card payments are processed and secured by Stripe.

D. Features and Functionality

  1. What are the key features of Medicalholodeck?

    Medical Imaging XR is the DICOM viewer in virtual reality. Visualize, edit, and discuss medical imaging in collaborative teams in VR. The application is used around the globe for postoperative case reviews, surgical teaching, training, and medical education.
    Dissection Master XR is the leading human anatomy atlas and dissection lab in virtual reality. Based on dissections of real human bodies, the software visualizes the anatomy of the human body in a superb level of detail in a fully immersive holographic space. Dissection Master XR is used around the globe for anatomy and medical teaching.
    Anatomy Master XR is the three-dimensional human anatomy atlas in virtual reality. It brings Zygote's highly detailed male and female 3D anatomy models to VR. The app is used worldwide to teach basic anatomy in universities, medical and nurse schools, and K12 education.
    RecordXR is the recorder for the Metaverse. Record your content, create lessons, store, and share them with users and your students worldwide. All in virtual reality.
    TeamXR offers collaborative teamwork in virtual reality. Discuss medical imaging in teams, train surgeons in groups, and teach anatomy in virtual classrooms in VR. TeamXR makes virtual collaboration on a global scale possible.
    Cloud Rendering frees professional medical imaging from being tethered to computers. So far, VR headsets have had to be connected to high-performance computers to generate high-performance medical imaging. These fixed installations and VR labs made it cumbersome to use the technology hospital-wide.

  2. Which DICOM datasets are supported by Medicalholodeck?

    Medicalholodeck supports almost any available DICOM datasets. Please refer to the Data Import column in the functions table on the website to check supported data types.

  3. In addition to DICOM, which data formats are supported by Medicalholodeck?

    You can upload 3D objects, movies, documents, and images. See here the complete list of supported file formats.

  4. Which datasets are included in the paid version?

    Medical Imaging XR comes with a series of DICOM files included. For example, you will find DICOM data of a heart, head, upper body, lung, and full body included. We also provide animated 2D datasets such as ultrasound, echocardiography, and angiography.
    Dissection Master XR brings the whole human body in several high-resolution layers to VR. All layers are precisely annotated.
    Anatomy Master XR brings Zygote’s 3D anatomy to virtual reality.

E. Troubleshooting and Tech Support

  1. What should I do if the software is not working correctly?

    Try the below steps if you encounter issues running Medicalholodeck:

    • Check if your system meets the minimum requirements.
    • Check if your VR headset is connected correctly to the PC when using PC VR and if the VR environment is installed.
    • Restart the software and, if necessary, your computer to see if the issue resolves itself.
    • Make sure you have the latest version of Medicalholodeck installed and the required updates for your operating system.

  2. Platform-specific questions.

    1. PC VR

      1. I see strange shapes on my PC/Laptop screen when I start Medicalholodeck, and there is no image in the headset. What should I do?

        Please ensure a compatible VR environment is installed on your computer, and the headset is connected correctly.
        For Meta Quest 2 and PRO, you can download the Oculus PC app from the official Meta website.
        For other VR hardware, you can use SteamVR.

      2. I experience low FPS when the DICOM dataset is loaded.

        • Check if your computer meets the minimum requirements for Medicalholodeck.
        • Don’t load more than one dataset at a time.
        • Reduce DICOM dataset quality in the tissue filtering panel.
        • Don’t go too close to the DICOM data. The closer you go, the more performance is needed.
    2. Apple Computer

      1. Can I use an Apple computer with Medicalholodeck?

        Apple is not supporting any VR headsets at the moment. To experience Medicalholodeck, use PC VR or Cloud Rendering.

    3. Meta Quest 2 / Standalone VR

      1. I can’t see the uploaded DICOM dataset, there is only an empty space when I try to load it.

        The Standalone Medicalholodeck Dissection Master XR app doesn’t support DICOM datasets and the Anatomy Master XR app due to the weak technical specifications of the Meta Quest 2 headset. Use PC VR or Cloud Rendering instead.

    4. Cloud Rendering

      1. I only see a circle on the black screen when starting CloudXR.

        Check if your router/firewall allows communication from the internet to the headset. Contact support@medicalholodeck.com if the problem persists.

      2. CloudXR is not connecting to any server. I can't see any servers listed in the connection dialog box after launching CloudXR.

      3. Everything is blurry, the text is unreadable, and the image quality is poor.

        If your internet connection speed is lower than the recommended minimum, the image quality will be reduced to maintain an acceptable frame rate. To test your Internet connection speed, visit www.speedtest.net. For the best experience, a minimum of 50Mbit/s upload and download speed is recommended.
        Additionally, the distance from your local WiFi access point can impact bandwidth and image quality. Ensure your headset is connected to a 5GHz access point and is located within an optimal distance for the best experience.

F. Data Privacy

  1. What is your Privacy Policy?

  2. Is my patient’s data safe?

    Your patient’s data is secure with Medicalholodeck. When you upload a DICOM dataset, the data is automatically anonymized on your computer before the upload. This ensures that no personal identifiable information (PII) is included in the uploaded data.

G. Updates

  1. How can I update Medicalholodeck?

    Updates are checked automatically when Medicalholodeck is launched. You will be notified when an update is available. It is highly recommended to install the most recent version of the software to guarantee stability, resolve any existing bugs, and access any new features that may have been added.

  2. Will my uploaded data be preserved during updates?

    All user-uploaded files will be preserved during software updates, allowing you to continue using Medicalholodeck seamlessly after an update.
